Australian-made traffic vehicle racking cage, fully welded from 25 x 25mm SHS DuraGal steel. Mounts to ute or truck trays to store multi-message frames, corflute signs, frame legs, cone bars and a B-Class arrow board for traffic control work.

Description

Traffic Vehicle Racking Cage (Design 7) is an Australian-made, vehicle-mounted storage and deployment system for traffic control equipment. It mounts to the tray of a traffic control ute or truck and keeps multi-message frames, corflute sign panels, frame legs, cones and stop/slow bats organised and accessible during temporary traffic management work. It is used by traffic management companies, civil contractors, utility crews and councils running equipped traffic control vehicles.

The cage is installed on a ute or truck tray as part of a traffic control vehicle fit-out. We fit traffic racking cages at our Bayswater North depot in Victoria. Contact us for a fitment quote. The cage can also be shipped Australia-wide if you are arranging installation yourself. Sign panels and multi-message frames slide into bent zinc-plated steel sheet sections, an extended leg section holds the frame legs, and a chain secures cones during transport.

During site setup and pack-down, crews work directly from the cage. Frames, panels and legs sit in dedicated sections, so equipment comes off the vehicle and goes back on in a repeatable order rather than being loaded loose on the tray. A dedicated stop/slow bat compartment keeps hand signalling equipment separate from the sign stock.

The cage is fully welded from 25 x 25mm SHS DuraGal steel, with cold galvanising applied to the welds. The sign and frame housings are formed from bent zinc-plated steel sheet. UAGS has been building racking cages for more than 15 years, and this design has been refined through that time in service on working traffic control vehicles.

Design 7 holds:

Traffic cones, such as the 700mm Heavy Duty Traffic Cone, sit in the available tray space beside the cage.

The arrow board is supplied with its beacon brackets attached and fixes to the cage on two 1600mm mounting bars. Frames, signs, legs and other equipment shown are sold separately.

The cage measures 1600mm long, 1650mm wide and 1215mm high. The 1650mm overall width includes the arrow board mounting bars and the stop/slow bat holder. The cage footprint is 1550mm wide.

Need bollard storage? Two designs use the same front layout as Design 7. Design 16 adds a section for 30 T-top bollard stems and an enclosed storage box. Design 21 adds a hanger for up to 10 T-top bollard stems and compartments for 9 bollard bases.

Design 7 is the most popular of more than 50 UAGS cage designs used across traffic control, civil construction, utility and council fleets. UAGS also fabricates custom cages matched to a specific vehicle, equipment list or crew workflow, and supplies complete traffic control vehicle fit-outs. Traffic cones sit in the available tray space beside the cage. A chain on the cage helps secure them during transport.

What are the cage dimensions?

The cage is 1600mm long, 1650mm wide and 1215mm high. The 1650mm overall width includes the arrow board mounting bars and the stop/slow bat holder. The cage footprint is 1550mm wide.

How is the arrow board mounted?

The B-Class arrow board is supplied with its beacon brackets attached and fixes to two 1600mm mounting bars on the cage. The arrow board is sold separately.

Do you fit the cage, or can it be shipped?

Both. We fit traffic racking cages at our Bayswater North depot in Victoria. Fitment is quoted separately, so contact us for a fitment quote with your vehicle and tray details. The cage can also be shipped Australia-wide. Professional installation is recommended.

Are the frames, signs and cones included?

No. The cage is supplied on its own. Multi-message frames, corflute panels, legs, cones, bats, arrow boards, wiring and lighting are supplied separately or quoted as part of a complete vehicle fit-out.

Can this cage be fitted to any ute or truck tray?

No. Fitment depends on the vehicle, tray size and intended equipment setup. Fitment requirements should be confirmed against the vehicle tray, cage layout and intended equipment before ordering.

Can the cage be customised?

Yes. UAGS has more than 50 cage designs and fabricates custom cages to suit specific vehicles, equipment lists and storage requirements.

Does fitting this cage make the vehicle compliant for traffic control work?

No. The cage is a traffic control equipment storage and deployment system only. Vehicle fitment, equipment selection and operational requirements should be confirmed against the relevant traffic management plan, project requirements and applicable road authority conditions.

What should be confirmed before ordering?

Confirm the vehicle and tray suitability, mounting position, intended equipment loadout and installation scope, and whether the cage is being supplied as a standalone product or as part of a complete UAGS vehicle fit-out.
