Projecta IDC25X 25A Dual Battery Charger

The Projecta IDC25X is a 25A DC-DC dual battery charger that charges a 12V auxiliary battery from the vehicle's alternator and a solar panel at the same time, keeping it separate from the starting battery. It suits traffic control vehicles, service utes, 4WDs and camper trailers where a second battery runs beacons, arrow boards, radios and work lights.

The alternator input accepts 9 to 32V, so it works on 12V and 24V vehicles with conventional or smart (variable-voltage) alternators. Output is 25A from an 11 to 32V input and 20A from a 9 to 11V input. A built-in MPPT solar regulator takes panels up to 32V and 400W directly, with no separate solar controller needed, and the charger uses solar first when it is available.

Charging is 5-stage, with profiles for AGM, gel, wet, calcium and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. Temperature compensation (sensing loom supplied) and voltage drop compensation keep the charge voltage correct, and a lithium wake-up function restarts charging on a battery whose BMS has shut down.

The electronics are fully potted inside an aluminium housing and sealed to IP68 and IP69K for under-bonnet mounting, although Projecta recommends keeping the unit away from exhaust and turbo heat. It has reverse polarity, over and under voltage and over temperature protection, and can be monitored and updated from a phone with Projecta's Intelli-IQ (sold separately).

Installation should be carried out by a suitably competent person or auto electrician. Projecta specifies 8 B&S cable as the minimum for runs up to 12m (6 B&S recommended) and a 50A fuse close to each battery (not supplied). Suits use alongside a suitable auxiliary battery tray, 8 B&S battery cable and MIDI fuse circuit protection.

Manufacturer Warranty - 5 Years
This product is covered by the manufacturer's warranty of 5 years from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, in accordance with Projecta's standard warranty terms.

Vehicle electrical components must be installed correctly as part of a suitable electrical system. This warranty does not cover ordinary wear and tear, abuse, alteration of the product, damage from incorrect installation or wiring, overloading, or use outside the product's stated operating conditions. Projecta states that failing to follow the supplied installation instructions, including the specified cable sizes, voids the warranty. Installation should be carried out by a qualified auto electrician.
